Nice to see the proper term for the 'broad arrow' Adam The best military pocket watch that I have dismantled has been the Grana KF262. I would say the same for the Rolex mil watches, many of which had movements made by Cortebert. The Jaegar LeCoultre military watches do seem to command a premium over those with other movements (except perhaps the Rolex) and I have never understood quite why as they are certainly no better in quality than many of the others, and the dials are often in very poor condition too. The watch looks to be in nice condition Piers. One of these Mk IV 'non luminous' watches passed through my hands recently with a RAF repair mark for 1940 notably the hands and quarter digits had been luminised. I am not entirely sure when this practice came to an end, but probably with the formation of the RAF in 1918, although the earlier issued watches remained in service after that. Earlier (1st WW era) aviation watches were marked with a seperate 'A' on the back, these were issued to both the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service.

The 'A' on the case back on this case is actually indicative of nothing - just a part of the serial number.
